NEW DELHI: India star batter Virat Kohli is on the verge of adding another feather to his illustrious cap. The Indian run-machine Virat, who is in ominous touch in limited overs cricket, needs 318 runs to complete 2000 runs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He has 1682 runs in 20 Tests (in BGT) at an average of 48.05.
If he manages to score 318 runs in the four-match series, he will become the fourth Indian cricketer to score 2000 and more runs in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Virat has 7 centuries and 5 fifties under his belt against Australia.
India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar is on top of the tally with 3262 runs in 34 Tests at an average of 56.24, including 9 centuries and 16 fifties.

VVS Laxman (2434 runs in 29 Tests) and Rahul Dravid (2143 runs in 32 Tests) are the other two cricketers who have scored 2000 and more runs in Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Apart from Virat, another Indian who would be eyeing the record will be Chetesteshwar Pujara who has 1893 runs in 20 Tests at an average of 54.08. Pujara has 5 hundreds and 10 fifties under his belt.
The first Test of the four-match series will be played from February 9 in Nagpur.
