DEHRADUN: A day after star cricketer Rishabh Pant had a miraculous escape surviving a near-fatal accident while driving his Mercedes GLE on the Delhi-Dehradun highway at Narsan in Haridwar district, a team of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) officials met him at Dehradun’s Max Hospital on Saturday.
While the hospital did not issue any statement on Saturday, DDCA director Shyam Sharma said that Pant “is in high spirits and responding well to treatment… He underwent plastic surgery on his left eyebrow where he suffered a cut in the accident.”

Pant’s car went up in flames moments after colliding with divider railings on the highway at about 5.22am on Friday and was reduced to a mangled heap on fire.
The cricketer managed to escape after breaking the windscreen before being helped by the driver and conductor of a Haryana roadways bus which was about 50m behind Pant’s car.

Sharma further said, “A team of BCCI doctors is in constant touch with the medical team of Max Hospital and BCCI secretary Jay Shah is also monitoring the situation. As of now, he won’t be shifted from Dehradun. As far as the ligament injury in his right knee is concerned, he will take some time to recover. He will be provided the best possible treatment.” Bollywood actors Anupam Kher and Anil Kapoor, and fellow cricketer Nitish Rana also visited Pant at the hospital on Saturday morning. After meeting Pant and his family members, the two actors said that they visited him “as his fans and common citizens”.

Kher said, “We found that he is in much better condition. He is a fighter. With God’s grace and prayers, he is doing fine. We had gone there to boost his morale so that he quickly recovers and hits the ground again. We also made him laugh a lot to ease the situation.”
