The massive rubble left behind by the tragic earthquake in Turkey saw former Newcastle United and Everton winger Christian Atsu being pulled alive from it.
Confirmed by his current club Hatayspor‘s vice president, the Ghana international was buried under the rubble, being among the thousands reported missing amid devastataion.
The 7.8 magnitude quake brought down thousands of buildings, killing thousands, in several Turkish and Syrian cities on Monday.
“Christian Atsu was pulled out injured. Our sporting director, Taner Savut, is unfortunately still under the rubble,” Hatayspor vice president Mustafa Ozak told Radyo Gol.
The 31-year-old Atsu was on loan from Chelsea when he plied his trade in the Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Everton
He joined Hatayspor last September and last represented Ghana in 2019.
