Brazil scampered to a 4-1 win over South Korea on Monday to storm into the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, and the players, led by Neymar, paid tribute to the legend Pele, who watched the game from a Sao Paulo hospital while getting treatment for a complication in his fight with colon cancer.
Brazil took a 4-0 lead by half-time, with goals from Vinicius Junior, Neymar, Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta. The second half witnessed a solitary consolation goal from South Korea’s Paik Seung-ho.
The Brazil players then unfurled a banner to the 82-year-old Pele, while paying tributes to him and motivating him in his fight with cancer.

“It’s hard to talk about what Pele is going through right now, but I wish him all the best,” said Neymar, who earlier feared making an early exit from the World Cup because of an ankle injury.
“I hope he will be back in good health as soon as possible and that we could have at least comforted him with the victory,” the Brazil star told ‘Globo’.

Brazil are the favourites to win the trophy, which will be their sixth World Cup title. Pele was part of the team in first three of those triumphs
“He needs a lot of strength from us and this victory is for him, so that he can come out of this situation and that we can be champions for him,” said Vinicius.
