NEW DELHI: India opened their Women’s T20 World Cup campaign in style with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Group B match at Newlands in Cape Town on Sunday.
Jemimah Rodrigues (53*) and Richa Ghosh (31*) forged an unbeaten 58-run stand to help India chase down 150-run target with one over to spare. This is India’s highest successful chase and second of all time in the history of the Women’s T20 World Cup.

England held the record of highest successful chase in the tournament history when they gunned down a 164-run target against Australia in the 2009 edition at The Oval.
West Indies’s 149/2 against Australia is the third highest successful chase which they achieved in 2016 at Eden Gardens.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof (68 not out) and hard-hitting Ayesha Naseem (43 not out) had boosted their side’s total after struggling to 68 for four in the 13th over.
Radha Yadav was the most successful India bowler returning figures of 2 for 21 in her four overs.
