MUMBAI: The newly-formed national selection committee is likely to meet in a few hours’ time, in an online meeting, to pick the India squads for the upcoming home white-ball series against New Zealand, and the first two Tests against Australia.
The New Zealand series, starting with the first ODI on January 18 in Hyderabad, will comprise 3 ODIs and T20Is each. The first Test against Australia will be played at Nagpur from February 9-13, while the second Test will be held at Delhi from Feb 17-21.
Currently, the selectors are busy watching the fifth round of Ranji Trophy matches at various venues around the country. Having stroked a mammoth 379 against Assam recently, opener Prithvi Shaw stands a great chance for a recall in either of the formats. It would be interesting to see if Sarfaraz Khan, who has scored runs consistently in domestic cricket for the last three seasons, finally gets a look-in.
