NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialed Rishabh Pant‘s family to take stock of his health after the Indian cricketer met with a horrific accident at the Delhi-Dehradun highway in the wee hours on Friday.
The 25-year-old Pant had a lucky escape when his car crashed into a road divider and caught fire after he dozed off behind the wheel on the highway.

The wicket-keeper suffered multiple injuries on his head, back and feet but is in a stable condition following the accident in Manglaur in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district around 5.30 am, police said.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi also took to Twitter to pray for his speedy recovery.
“Distressed by the accident of noted cricketer Rishabh Pant. I pray for his good health and well-being. @RishabhPant17,” the prime minister said on Twitter.

The BCCI also released the statement saying, “Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back.”

Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment, BCCI release stated.

The BCCI also assures that Rishabh receives the best possible medical care and gets all the support he needs to come out of this traumatic phase.
