Suryakumar Yadav a unique talent, when he walks to the crease, the cricketing world stops: Tom Moody | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Indian fast bowler Umran Malik has been relentless when it comes to generating raw pace. He breathes fire on the field. His ability to send stumps cartwheeling with consistent deliveries at and over 150kmph plus have made him a regular member in the Indian limited-overs side.
Umran has played 8 ODIs and as many T20Is for India so far and claimed 24 wickets (13 in ODIs and 11 in T20Is).
Former Head coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Australia legend Tom Moody, who has seen Umran growing as a pacer in the SRH camp in the IPL,
hailed the ‘unique talent’ and said this is just the beginning for the Jammu and Kashmir star.
He also had high praise for Suryakumar Yadav, who has in his own way revolutionised limited overs batting. SKY, who has already played 20 ODIs and 48 T20Is, has been handed his Test debut in the ongoing India vs Australia 1st Test.
Moody, who is the Director of Cricket of the Desert Vipers team in the ongoing ILT20 tournament, being played in the UAE, spoke to TimesofIndia.com about pace sensation Umran, India vs Australia Test series, Suryakumar Yadav, and much more…
On India’s ‘Mr. 360 degree’ Suryakumar Yadav…
Suryakumar Yadav is clearly a unique player. Whenever he walks to the crease, the cricketing world stops. He is an amazing T20 player and what he has done in the recent season is quite remarkable. It is great to see him continue that unbelievable form. And it will be interesting to see how India uses him moving forward, in 50-over cricket and Test cricket. He is a player who is clearly in form.

On India’s speed merchant Umran Malik…
It is great to see that he continues to get opportunities and exposure with the Indian team. He is a unique talent. You don’t find players who can bowl at 150 regularly that often. India have come across a real diamond in Umran. Sunrisers have played a small role in finding him, exposing him, and developing him. This is just the beginning for him.
On the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series…
The series between India and Australia is always a significant one and a big one where both the teams have that sort of huge manner of respect for each other but have rivalry in competitions. Australia are always desperate to win in India. It is always a tough challenge for any team to come to India and win but Australia is one team that does like to try to strive to have that success.

Will India miss Rishabh Pant who miraculously escaped a horrific high-speed car accident?
It’s very sad to see that incident. We just hope he gets well soon and has a speedy recovery. India will definitely miss him on the field (vs Australia). Pant should come back to the field as soon as possible because he is such an important player for Indian cricket. He is such an exciting player and inspiration to many Indians.
