NEW DELHI: Teen sensation Shafali Verma laughed her way to the bank as she was bought by the Delhi Capitals franchise for a whopping Rs 2 crore at the Women’s Premier League auction in Mumbai on Monday.
The India opener, who hails from Haryana, near national capital shared her excitement on being part of of the Delhi franchise and said that the WPL will bring huge opportunities for the domestic players who will be up against the best women’s talents from around the world.
The hard-hitting batter was one of the biggest names at the auction and was involved in a fierce bidding war before being snapped up by the franchise from the national capital.

Shafali recently led the Indian team to title in the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. The 19-year-old is currently with the senior women’s team for the T20 World Cup in South Africa.
