WTC Final likely on June 8 at the Oval | Cricket News

RAIPUR: The 2023 World Test Championship Final is likely to kick off on June 8 at the Oval in London.
Though the International Cricket Council (ICC) has not announced the dates so far, reliable sources told TOI that the match is slated to run from June 8-12, with a provision for a reserve day to make up for time lost due to rain.
That means there will be sufficient gap between this year’s IPL, scheduled to end in the last week of May, and the WTC Final, implying a welcome break for India’s players should they qualify.
AUSSIES LIKELY TO HOLD SHORT CAMP IN BANGALORE
The visiting Australian cricket team is likely to hold a short camp in Bangalore ahead of the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy series against India in February-March, sources said. “After the short camp they will proceed to Nagpur for the first Test (from February 9),” a source said.
BCCI TAKES OUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR TWO SELECTORS’ POSTS
The BCCI on Friday advertised on its website for the post of one female senior selector and one men’s junior selector. Former Tamil Nadu batsman S Sharath, who was the junior selection committee chairman when India won the Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies last year, was recently promoted to the senior selection committee.
Currently, Harvinder Singh Sodhi, Ranadeb Bose, Krishan Mohan and Pratik Patel are the other members of the national junior selection committee.
Interestingly, as per the BCCI’s brief about the main job duties/responsibilities, a junior national selector, apart from “selecting the best possible team in a fair and transparent manner,” and “plan and prepare a strong bench strength for the respective age group teams,” must “inculcate proper ethics in the youth, particularly through interactions with senior and former players on issues such as drugs, betting and match-fixing, etc.”
Both the senior women’s and junior men’s selector would also “be responsible for vetting and selecting coaches and support staff ”.
The deadline to apply for both the posts is 6 pm on Jan 28. The shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interviews for further evaluation by the BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee.
