Watch Exclusive ‘Triangle of Sadness’ Clip: “Sails”

A luxurious cruise goes horribly wrong in Triangle of Sadness, leaving its wealthy passengers stranded in the middle of nowhere. Before that happens, though, director Ruben Östlund (The Square, Force Majeure) has already established a richly comic setting, showing how the incredibly pampered guests, including a celebrity fashion-model couple, have behaved in an outrageously ostentatious manner.

We get a sense of the film’s twisted humor in our exclusive clip. The Captain (Woody Harrelson) is greeting guests for dinner onboard the ship on a stormy night. A distinguished, elderly passenger informs him of her concern: the sails are dirty. Can they not be cleaned? Knowing that the motorized ship does not even have sails, The Captain is faced with a dilemma, since he cannot risk giving an honest answer to the entitled, wealthy woman. What will he do?
