What to Watch on Vudu

If the leaves in your area are not changing colors, rest assured that the fare at your local theater has been changing to reflect the fall movie season, which is also reflected in what’s available to watch on Vudu this week. Take a look and see what’s available for discerning movie fans to feast upon.

Letitia Wright and Tamara Lawrence portray The Silent Twins, sisters who only communicated with each other. Their incredible intimate relationship enables them to create a richly-detailed world of their own in the potent drama, inspired by a true story.

Two stories that span the decades are bound together in the Vudu exclusive bundle, The Invitation & Bram Stoker’s Dracula (Bundle), which features sterling performances by Nathalie Emmanuel in the former, as a young woman who gets to know family members she never knew before in the English countryside, and Keanu Reeves in the latter, as a young man stalking an evil he cannot comprehend in the European countryside. Both films are sure to startle and surprise you.

Sit back and relax with Jon Hamm as a cool, calm and collected private eye who gets accused of murder in Confess, Fletch. The witty mystery is set in the rarefied world of art collectors, whose pretenses are constantly punctured by the wisecracking detective.

A torrid romantic trilogy concludes in After Every Happy. Tessa (Josephine Langford) and Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) face big decisions if they ever want to be happy together, if that’s even possible at this point in their rocky relationship.

In George Miller’s epic fantasy-drama Three Thousand Years of Longing, a Djinn (Idris Elba) and a scholar (Tilda Swinton) must confront the lines between reality and wish fulfillment. There’s more to the story than wishes and epic fantasies, of course, which is what makes it so compelling.

John Boyega desperately wants you to know the truth about broken promises in Breaking. His character plunges into a tense hostage drama, but he is far more interested in proclaiming his message than anything the bank has to offer.

New to Rent

From an early age, Gru (Steve Carrell) aspired to be a super-villain. But why? Minions: The Rise of Gru is a delightfully silly origin story that delves into Gru’s younger years, while also showcasing the incredibly versatile, flexible, helpful and truly subversively funny army of creatures who help him achieve his goals, despite himself.

The titular character in Marcel the Shell With Shoes On is likewise incredibly versatile, flexible and helpful, but Marcel is far more thoughtful, making his journey all the more poignant as he searches for his long-lost family. The story is richly humorous and entirely relatable. Don’t be surprised if you’re moved to tears.

Deals

It’s dynamic and occasionally infuriating, yet always compelling to watch.

First time on sale — $12.99 4K UHD. Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank offers a family-friendly adventure that pits a hapless hound (Michael Cera) versus an evil villain (Ricky Gervais). Our hero has a secret weapon, though: a wise teacher (Samuel L. Jackson).
